Would go without service before

I signed up for new internet service with Time Warner. 2 days later, I called to change the installation date. The company asked for my Social Security Number, which I thought was odd because they didn't ask me for it when I signed up, nor did I get any type of confirmation number. Turns out, the sales person just entered some random SSN, so it didn't match. After 3 days and almost (no exaggeration) 6 hours on the phone, my installation could not be moved or cancelled because they couldn't "verify" who I was. They said I had to go to the local office, which is 25 minutes away and closes before I get off work. I talked to at least 10 different reps, some of them said, "I have to transfer to you to (x) dept., but I will stay on the phone with you to explain to the new rep the situation." Guess what? After waiting on hold each time, I ended up back at the beginning of the phone queue with a new rep who had no idea of what I was talking about. I finally told them to never install at my home but since they couldn't do that over the phone, that I would just wait for the installer to show and tell him/her not to install. After waiting 1 hour past the install appointment time, the installer never showed. Time Warner then called me 3 weeks later to find out why the service was never installed. I kindly explained to him the situation and told him that there was no way in the world that I would EVER have their service. The worst customer service I have ever experienced.
