I recently started service when I moved to Austin, Texas. I originally was told that I would have HD, DVR service and free HBO and Showtime for one year...great!! Then I get a call from another representative to set up my appointment and he says that I can have all five premium channels free for a year. I asked if he was sure about that.....all five premiums free for a year???...."oh yes ma'am, all five of them". Okay, sure, why not.... Then the guy comes to install the service. I double check with him to be sure that I have all five premiums free for a year..."yup, that's what it says on the work order". Then I find out that he brings me a regular box...no DVR...and claims he doesn't have a DVR on his truck... NO problem ...there is a TWC hub just down the street, I'll go change it out myself. Again when I get there I ask the customer service rep if my billing is going to change. She said no, that I will get free DVR service for a year. I also double checked about the premiums...making sure that I would have all five free for one year and not 3 months which is usually the case...."oh no, you get them free for one year". Okay...just 'triple' checking.... I get my first bill and guess what it says, five premiums free for 3 months...WTF??? I knew it. So I call them up and of course no one has ever heard of such an offer...that's preposterous!! So you're telling me that I misunderstood 3 different people???!! "Oh yes, unfortunately. We've never had such an offer....that's just preposterous".
I believe 100% that they make you these bogus offers and then when the customer is not expecting it, they slap you with a huge increase in your bill.
Writing down the customer service reps name doesn't do a bit of good...."who, Jerome, never heard of him..." I would say get it in writing but they would probably accuse you of forgery. What a bunch of liars.
